Sunday 11th October 2005 saw us exhibiting at the Annual Focus-Ability Gala in Wakefield. Our stand was well stocked with offers and promotional items. This included special prices on our standard mattress cleaning prices. There were samples of mattress dust for all see and a cutaway mattress sample showing the Dust Mite habitat in detail. We also had offers on the day with Memory Foam Mattress Toppers, Anti-Allergy mattress covers, Home Dust Mite Test kits and the universally acclaimed Airfree P80 Air Purifier.

A good day was had by all.

House Dust Mites
House dust mite populations are highest around human and pet bedding. They like moist conditions, moderate temperatures and an ample supply of human and animal skin scales and other debris.

House dust mites are too small to see, like the dark and like to live in feathers, blankets mattresses, bed clothes, carpets and soft furnishings. Millions of them live in the cleanest of homes.

We use a 3 step sanitisation procedure which is dry, chemical-free and all performed on site. It is designed not only to effectively remove dust mites and their droppings, but also sterilise the mattress, kill the germs and bacteria, and also to prevent the dust mites breeding again for about 6 months.A powerful, specially engineered portable cleaning device generates incredible suction and high frequency pulsating waves. The debris is collected in a HEPA filter bag, which retains 99.9% of anything above 0.3 microns in size. This is combined with a germ killing high intensity UV light, which works in harmony to pulverise the dust mites, bacteria and fungal spores. Finally we use a chemical-free deodorising and sanitising spray, which is completely harmless to humans and animals. It is entirely plant-based and smells slightly of citrus. Once the spray has evaporated, generally 10 minutes, the bed can be re-made, ready for use.

We recommend the use of our Sanitising spray once a week, this keeps the mattress sanitised, deodourised and smelling fresh.

Dust Mite Trivia. But not so trivial if you or a loved one suffers from an allergy

The dust mite's droppings are one of the most common household allergens and are a proven cause of headaches, runny nose, itchy skin, and puffy eyes among sufferers of asthma, rhinitis, related respiratory problems, and eczema.  The slightest movement by people or pets send these particles into the air you breathe to be inhaled or settle on the skin.  This is often the trigger for allergic reactions.

·         Dust Mites are the source of one of the most powerful biological allergens!

·         Dust Mites create household dust that many filtration systems miss;  allergens (faeces) measure 2 microns, and their dead carcasses measure 250 microns.

·         Doctors believe that dust is one of the largest mediums of human infection.

·         Germs have no means of locomotion except to attach themselves to particles of dust.

·         A dust mites main food source of food is dead human dead skin flakes and animal dander.

·         42,000 dust mites can live in only one ounce of dust.

.         40 pounds of dust is generated per year in 1,500 square feet of space.  How big is your home?

·         Dust hosts 15 species of dust mites

·         It is estimated that you breathe in 2 heaped teaspoons of air particles per day, including dust and its passengers !!

·         Bedrooms are where the largest population of dust mites reside in most households.

·         Dust problems increase due to heat, moisture, and humidity above 70%

·         Popular cold /cool water wash cycles have added to the problem of dust mites infestation as cold water does not harm dust mites!
